Explore Voyageurs National Park
Voyageurs is a mosaic of land and water. Forty percent of the park is water. It’s a place of transition, between land and aquatic ecosystems, between southern boreal and northern hardwood forests, and between wild and developed areas.

See animals up-close at the Bear Sanctuary
The Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary in Orr, MN  promotes a better understanding of the black bear through education, observation and experience.

Roll over the Bogwalk Boardwalk
While in Orr, MN to see black bears at the Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary, you do not want to miss the views from the half-mile walk across the bog. This accessible boardwalk is open year-round, providing nature enthusiasts of all ages and abilities with easy access to a wide variety of beautiful wetland scenery.

Iron World Discovery Center
Minnesota Discovery Center is the largest museum complex in the state outside the Twin Cities. Learn everything about the Land, the Mines, the People and the Work of the Iron Range.

Shopping
Border towns International Falls and Fort Frances are about 25 miles away from the lake and have shops full of souvenirs and more.

Light Groceries
Grocery stores may be found in the gateway communities of Orr and International Falls. Gateway General store is also a short drive from the resort.

& Boat Storage
Voyageur Marina on Lake Kabetogama is the closest boat repair and storage facility, but there are many options near Fort Frances and International Falls.

Visit a Visitor Center
There are numerous visitor centers around Voyageur’s National Park.
Visit a center and enjoy hiking trails filled with pine and spectacular views of Kabetogama Lake.
Rainy Lake Visitor Center is even open year-round, though it is only reachable by boat!

Relax on Lake Kabetogama
Lake Kabetogama touches Moosehorn Resort and goes all the way to Canada via connected boarder lakes. With miles of pristine undeveloped shoreline and 25,000 acres of clean, cool water. It is one of four major lakes that make up Voyageurs National Park.

Take a Boat Tour of Rainy Lake
Rainy Lake is accessible in the winter for ice fishing. The visitor center also offers an exhibit area, displays, a bookstore, a staffed information desk, a children’s activity table, and a theater for viewing the park film.

Look Out Over Kettle Falls Dam
Kettle Falls dam is situated between Rainy Lake and Namakan Lake. The portage between the two lakes served as a key gathering point from the time of the voyageurs to the miners, commercial fishermen, and lumbermen at the turn of the 20th century, and tourists beginning in the 1930s.

Win big at the Casino
Try your luck at Fortune Bay Casino, within an hour and a half drive of Moosehorn Resort and nearby other area attractions.

Go for a Hole-In-One
Check golfing in Canada off your bucket list by visiting Kitchen Creek in Ontario. Or stay on the US side at the Three Brothers Vermillion Green nine-hole course or The Wilderness Golf Course at Fortune Bay Casino. Falls Country Club also offers an eighteen-hole championship course.
Pellet Pete’s Mini Golf Course is also available at the Iron World Discovery Center.

Boat to Ellsworth Rock Garden
Known as the “Showplace of Lake Kabetogama” since the 1940s, this original and distinctive art environment on the north shore is accessible by boat only.

Take a Tour
Tours are a great way to get the most out of any visit to a historic and rich new landscape. From boat tours to bear sanctuaries, Voyageurs National Park has a ton to offer.

Fish Kab
Lake Kabetogama is a thriving fishery with Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Crappie, Jumbo Perch, Northern Pike and other species. Come try your luck at a trophy fish, or fill your live well for shore lunch!

Soudan Underground Mines
This was Minnesota’s first ever iron ore mine. Soudan Mine opened in 1882 and is known as Minnesota’s oldest, deepest, and richest iron mine. It now hosts the Soudan Underground Laboratory.

Koochiching County & Bronko Nagurski Historical Museum
From early Native culture to the present day, this museum will show you the history of local industry titans and tenacious settlers. Attached, the Bronko Nagurski Museum is the first museum dedicated to an individual football player. Open year-round except holidays, 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday.

Grand Mound History Center
Located along the Rainy River near International Falls, it comprises five sacred burial mounds, ancient villages, and sturgeon fishing sites developed approximately 2,000 years ago.

See a Movie at the Theater
International Falls has the Cine 5 where you can relax and partake in an old American pastime of seeing the latest flick and eating popcorn.

Plenty of Dining Options
Look around Kabetogama, Orr, and International Falls for some great food options. You wont need to travel far from the lake to enjoy great dining.

The Northern Lights and meteors are known to happen in the skies around Voyageurs National Park. Stop in the Voyageurs National Park visitor center and ask about the Night Explorer Junior Ranger program.
